Transfer news: Mourinho approves Ronaldo’s return to Manchester United
Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho, has given his nod to the club’s attempts to bring Cristiano Ronaldo back.
La Sexta reports that Mourinho will have no issues over the return of his compatriot, who he worked with during his three-year spell at Real Madrid.
It is believed that a major clear out is imminent at the Spanish club.
Real will look to finally part ways with Ronaldo in the summer.
Real president, Florentino Perez, has reportedly resisted pressure from Ronaldo for a new deal this time, with the Portuguese captain unhappy at earning less than Lionel Messi after his bumper extension at the Camp Nou.
United could reportedly pay up to 352million in order to seal transfer at the end of the season.
Pep Guardiola congratulates Jose Mourinho and Manchester United on winning race to sign Alexis Sanchez
Pep Guardiola insists he has not fallen out with Alexis Sanchez because he is joining Manchester United rather than Manchester City.
Guardiola was keen to be reunited with Sanchez at City after working with him at Barcelona, only for the Chile star to agreed a monster £500,000-a-week contract with United.
He accepts Sanchez’s decision and wished the South American well as he switches from Arsenal to United.
“I repeat the same, the players and their managers decide what is the best for both of them,” said the City boss. “There’s nothing to add.
“My opinion of Alexis remains the same. It was a pleasure to be with him at Barcelona and he has decided to move to another club and I wish him all the best.”

Guardiola shrugged off the question why City were not prepared to match United’s offer and congratulated them and Sanchez on the deal.
“I’m not a guy with the mathematics, with the numbers, so all I know right now is he is still an Arsenal player, Alexis Sanchez,” said the Catalan.
“I think he’s going to go to United, so congratulations to both of them.
“At the end the players when they have contenders, decide where they are going to play, even their managers decide where they are going to play, so good luck!”

Benue massacre: Soyinka says Buhari acting like Jonathan
Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka has stated that President Muhammadu Buhari was acting like former President, Goodluck Jonathan in his handling of the activities of Fulani herdsmen across Nigeria.
While insisting that the President is handling the continued killings of farmers with kids’-glove, the poet pointed out that Jonathan did same with Boko Haram, leading to its subsequent escalation.
The Playwright wondered why the Buhari-led government had not considered some of the suggestions which stakeholders recommended as a solution to the crisis.
In an article on Wednesday, titled ‘Impunity rides again through killer herdsmen’, Soyinka stated that the herdsmen have declared war against Nigeria.
He recalled that afte,r “a hideous massacre” perpetrated by the herdsmen in 2016, a security meeting was called and the cattle rearers “attended the meeting — according to reports — with AK47s and other weapons of mass intimidation visible under their garments”.
“They were neither disarmed nor turned back. They freely admitted the killings but justified them by claims that they had lost their cattle to the host community,” he said.
“Such are the monstrous beginnings of the culture of impunity. We are reaping, yet again, the consequences of such tolerance of the intolerable. Yes, there indeed the government is culpable, definitely guilty of ‘looking the other way’. Indeed, it must be held complicit.”
“I am not aware that IPOB came anywhere close to this homicidal propensity and will to dominance before it was declared a terrorist organization.
“The international community rightly refused to go along with such an absurdity. The conduct of that movement, even at its most extreme, could by no means be reckoned as terrorism. By contrast, how do we categorize Myeti?”
Reacting to a statement that herdsmen were in defence of their stolen cows, the nobel laureate, said, “How do we assess a mental state that cannot distinguish between a stolen cow – which is always recoverable – and human life, which is not.
“Villages have been depopulated far wider than those outside their operational zones can conceive. They swoop on sleeping settlements, kill and strut. They glory in their seeming supremacy.”

Benue attacks: Presidency blames Nigerians for not speaking against killing of herdsmen
The Presidency has faulted the killing of about 200 Fulani herdsmen and cattle in various attacks across the country, saying that “every life is valuable.”
President Muhammadu Buhari’s Personal Assistant on Social Media, Lauretta Onochie made the remark while sharing comments by the Secretary to the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, Baba Othman Ngelzarma on her Twitter handle.
Onnochie wondered why Nigerians are silent on the death of herdsmen while crying about farmers and residents killed.
She wrote: “Every life is valuable.
“No one has a right to take any life.
“However, we are all silent on the murder of over 200 Nigerians.
“We are all caught up in the unfortunate loss of Nigerians on one side of the coin ONLY.
“The other side of the coin with over 200 lives lost, suffers in silence.”
Recall that Ngelzarma, had on Tuesday stressed that those who attacked Benue people were killers not herdsmen.
Ngelzarma said this while absolving his association of the killing allegedly perpetrated by Fulani herdsmen in Benue State.
Featuring on Channels Television’s programme, Sunrise Daily, the MACBAN leader maintained that herdsmen are peaceful people and not killers.
The MACBAN leader, who regretted the unfortunate killings, however called for an end to the “senseless killings.”

He said “When I came, he told me it was Yahoo. It was when I got to him that it became a different thing, I told them I cannot go out like this, and they said there is no problem. It was when we went out that I know it was a real problem. The village people shouted at us and we ran. I was later arrested by the Police.
“I am a repairer of the laptop, he told me to come and that he will teach me how to make faster money with Yahoo. When I came, I asked him, where is the laptop? He said I should not worry. On the eight days, he said we should stroll out, he gave me a knife, he gave the other guy cutlass and he handled the pistol.
“I am appealing to the police to sympathize with me because of my late mother, I don’t care what they want to do to me I want to witness her burial.”
